About Us
The institute was established in the year 2021 and since its inception, it has successfully established its presence across various public and social interactive platforms; engaging participants with the objective of training, practicing, coaching, and carrying out alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. The institute also delivers lectures, workshops, seminars, and peace and conflict sensitization in all ramifications in line with international best practices.
We equip and develop our trainees or participants to be proficient in ADR. They are peacemakers, conflict resolution experts, and managers with a high sense of commitment, professionalism, and integrity.

Our Mission
- By ensuring where practicable, that both paid and sponsored trainings workshops, seminars, webinars, skills (acquisition) accreditation, enhancement, development, certification, and other relevant programmes of SHATI are conducted in other languages in addition to the English language in order to empower more people with the relevant and requisite dispute and conflict resolution skills.
- By providing an effective, accessible and inexpensive platform for amicable, peaceful, easy and quick resolution of disputes and conflicts as well as serving as an independent authority for the appointment of neutrals both within and outside Nigeria.
- By establishing SHATI ADR CENTER equipped with the state of the art facility for the conduct of ADR proceedings and to serve as a platform for the purpose of bridging the gap between theory and the practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
- By providing an affordable venue and platform for coaching, mentorship, training and practice of mediation, arbitration, mediation advocacy and any other form of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
- By carrying out skills enhancement, development, training, coaching, mentorship, practice, regulation and certification in faith-based alternative dispute resolution.

Our Governing Body
Prof. Timothy Bulus
Profile
Prof. Timothy Bulus is a professor of Biochemistry at Kaduna State University, with academic and research experience of more than seventeen years. He has served as the head of the department of Biochemistry for two terms spanning four years during which the department had witnessed tremendous improvement in organization, course curriculum, quality of teaching and the establishment of several postgraduate programmes. He is currently the pioneer director of the Directorate of Laboratory Management and Maintenance of the university and had previously played key roles in pioneering the establishment of the first-ever well-equipped Kaduna State University Molecular Biology Laboratory. He has served the university in many capacities at senate and management cadres, as well as in many of its committees.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In addition, he has a Master of Science degree and a Doctor of Philosophy, both from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on the potential of developing vaccine constructs against malaria pathogen, research he partly carried out at the Center of Glycobiology, Universitate de Bremen, Germany. He has lectured many biochemistry courses and supervised original research at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Biochemistry and Biotechnology with attendant scholarly scientific articles to his credit. He is a member of several scientific societies which he served in different leadership and committee responsibilities.
Professor Timothy Bulus is a community development person and has provided a lot of community services across fields and communities. He was a visiting lecturer at the Department of Biological Science, Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, where he helped in the establishment of M.Sc. Biotechnology programme. He was a visiting research scientist at the Nigerian Institute for Trypanosomiasis, Kaduna, and had provided research training and mentoring opportunities to younger researchers in the institute. He has been equally involved in several other society training in the capacity development of younger scientists. Because of his leadership roles and his passionate interest in peaceful co-existence, he has recently undergone the basic intensive, theoretical and practical training course in Dispute Resolution Skills and Proficiency with the Settlement House ADR Training Institute (SHATI) and attended a capacity building workshop for academic leaders at central State University, Ohio, USA. Prof. Timothy Bulus is practically involved in conflict management within the University and has participated in resolving several conflicts and disputes among staff and students such as theft cases, online platform-related disputes, examination irregularities and intra-union conflicts.
He is a principled, fair-minded and amiable teacher and leader. On the basis of his competence and trustworthiness, he was invited by Bowen University for a sabbatical leave during which helped to restructure and stabilize the Biochemistry Programme and has, on several occasions, been invited to examine undergraduate and postgraduate students of Ahmadu Bello University, University of Jos and Bingham University. He has written letters of recommendation and served as a guarantor to many youths. He is a Christian teacher, counsellor and leader. He is a patron and advisor to student organizations and is happily married to Mrs Martha and their marriage is blessed with three children: Blessed (12), Joseph (10) and Grace (5).

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Chairman of its Fellows Forum, a Fellow of the Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators, a Registered Quantity Surveyor with QSRBN and a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
He was a Federal Government nominee to the QSRBN and was the Chairman of its Accreditation Committee, responsible for certifying all Quantity Surveying educational programmes in Nigerian Universities and Polytechnics.
He also served as the Federal Government-appointed consultant to oversee the implementation of the MDGs ‘Quickwins’ project on Health, Education and Water sectors in Anambra State.

He has been a very active participant in Engineering and Construction practice spanning over 28 years as a respected Quantity Surveying and Total Cost Management Consultant. He was the Executive Director-Contract/Vice-Chairman with Paul-B Nigeria Plc; a notable building and civil engineering company. He is currently a member of the Infrastructure Policy Commission of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and serves on its Roads and Rails sectoral working groups.

Rosecana Galadima Ankama is a lecturer with Kaduna polytechnic, department of legal studies. She is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where she obtained her first degree in law, LL.B (Hons) and Master of Laws LL.M respectively. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2000. She developed interest in conflict resolution as far back as her secondary school days when she served as a mediator between friends and classmates. She nurtured her interest in the practice of ADR by attending training at the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators and other ADR processes in and outside Nigeria. She is an ADR expert with a special interest in Mediation and Negotiation. Rosecana mediates workplace, a range of family disputes, property, and breach of contract disputes. She also anchors conflict resolution talk shows on Liberty Radio organised by House of Justice, Kaduna. She co-developed a mediation training package for Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.
She has published many articles on ADR and other legal matters in international and local academic journals.

In utilizing her Mass Communication skills, she worked as a Direct Sales Agent for Fidelity Bank Plc.

Prof. Andrew Aondona Akume was two times Head of Department, Commercial Law, former Assistant Dean of Law, Faculty of Law, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna. He was one time Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (Zaria branch), former Assistant Secretary, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA Zaria branch), Christian Lawyers Association of Nigeria (CLASFON) and former member of Governing Council, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna.
He became a Professor of Law with effect from 1st Oct. 2011. So far, he has graduated up to Ten (10) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students and several LL.M students. He has to his credit, forty Three (43) academic publications.
He is a vibrant and proactive legal practitioner and practices under the law firm of Wayo-Akume & Co, (Deliverance Chambers), UBA main building, PZ, Zaria, Kaduna. Dr. Madaki David Sheyin is a medical doctor. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He also obtained a master’s degree in Disaster Risk Management and Development Studies from the same institution, a master’s in Business Administration from Nigerian Defense Academy and a postgraduate degree in Entrepreneurship Studies from Kaduna State University.
He has a broad range of experience in medicine and has held many positions in that regard including being the Country Lead Director, Community Health at Shared Humanity Foundation, Secretary of the Medical Directors’ Forum, Kaduna State, Medical Director at General Hospital, Zango Kataf, Kaduna among others. He is also currently the chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (Kaduna branch). He has a strong desire for the growth and development of the health sector and as such, has been involved in a lot of projects to make good health available to people.

He holds a PhD in metallurgical engineering from the Institute of Steel and Alloys (Technological University) Moscow, Russia and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State. He is a member of the Nigerian Metallurgical Society, Nigerian Society of Engineers and a registered engineer with COREN. Rosecana Galadima Ankama is a lecturer with Kaduna polytechnic, department of legal studies. She is a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where she obtained her first degree in law, LL.B (Hons) and Master of Laws LL.M respectively. She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2000. She developed interest in conflict resolution as far back as her secondary school days when she served as a mediator between friends and classmates. She nurtured her interest in the practice of ADR by attending training at the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators and other ADR processes in and outside Nigeria. She is an ADR expert with a special interest in Mediation and Negotiation. Rosecana mediates workplace, a range of family disputes, property, and breach of contract disputes. She also anchors conflict resolution talk shows on Liberty Radio organised by House of Justice, Kaduna. She co-developed a mediation training package for Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.
She has published many articles on ADR and other legal matters in international and local academic journals.

Abosede (Deborah) Akinsulire is a Civil Engineering student at Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State. She is highly organized, resourceful, self-motivated, detail-oriented and an avid researcher. She has always been energetic and enthusiastic since childhood and believes in hard work.
She learned to use some software applications, especially Microsoft apps which enhanced her organizational skill. She executed various volunteer tasks at work which included event planning, internet research, data entry, typing notes, minutes writing and editing, creating and managing schedules and many others that are similar to these. She has gotten countless positive feedbacks from people for all these jobs well done.
She recently graduated as a Virtual Assistant at ALX and got invited to be a Fellow in The ROOM where she learned to effectively use the integrated Google Workspace tools which have helped her be a lot more organized while getting different tasks done.
